Monthly Bloom Table
Each month at our meeting we have a bloom table where members can display their blooming orchids. Members are encouraged to bring in as many as they please.
Every orchid has the name of the orchid and the name of the grower so that if you are interested in a particular plant and want to know more about it you can talk to the grower during the break.
Each month a panel of judges comprised of three society members award a blue ribbon to their favorite plant in each of the following categories:
Cattleya Alliance
Cymbidium Alliance
Dendrobium Alliance
Miniatures
Miscellaneous Genera
Oncidum Alliance
Paphiopedalum
Phalaenopsis
Species
Vanda Alliance
It is really instructive to see what other people are growing and amazing to see the wide variety of plants grown by our members. The bloom table is the most interesting when people bring in plants not because they think they will win a blue ribbon, but because they are favorites that they want to share. You may see plants you have never before had the opportunity to see bloom.
At the end of the year, the person with the most blue ribbons wins THE GOOD GROWER AWARD for the year.
